2025 Retirement Information

When an employee retires from Children's of Alabama, he or she may be eligible for a retirement bonus, retirement party and/or retiree medical coverage. The criteria for each is below:

Retiree Medical Coverage

  • Employee must be between the ages of 62 and 65
  • Employee must have a minimum of 15 years consecutive service
  • Employee must have been covered under a COA medical plan for the past 2 years

Retirement Bonus and Party

  • Employee must be at least 55 years old with a minimum of 15 years of consecutive service OR 62 years old with a minimum of 10 years consecutive service

     Bonus - The bonus is $100 for each year of employment or 5% of the employees annual salary - whichever is greater.  Physicians and Executives are not eligible for this bonus plan. 

     Party - It is the manager/directors responsibility to plan the retirement party. HR will contribute $750 towards the cost of food and will order a plant or flower arrangement for the event. The department will be responsible for repaying any expenses in excess of $750.
