New Staff Resources

If not yet complete:

  • Bring your Federal I-9 Eligibility to Work documents within the first two days.
  • Plan your tax withholding levels with your tax advisor.
  • Send any change in name or contact information to [email protected].

Next steps after HR:

  • If you did not receive your badge at Orientation, go to Security to pick up your badge and verify where you should be parking.
  • Please note you will not be able to clock in/out with your new badge until the following business day.
  • The Security Office is located at the 16th Street entrance to the 5th Avenue parking deck, or ground floor hallway from Park Place North or South, through the corridor midpoint exit door.
  • If you will park at the main campus location, there will be a monthly payroll deduction.
  • If there is any problem with your badge name or job title, please email [email protected].
  • As instructed, either report to your unit to meet with your supervisor or home to complete online orientation. New Graduate Nurses will report to Nursing Education Tuesday at 8:00 am to begin their online curriculum and orientation.

Enroll in Okta Multi-Factor Authentication and change your password.

Okta is an identity and access management solution to allow secure remote access to hospital applications and other hospital resources. From any computer, navigate to portal.chsys.org. You will sign in with your username and default network password provided to you during orientation. 

  • Choose from one of the three Multi-Factor Authentication Options and follow the setup process
  • Note: You will only use this second “factor” to confirm your identity when accessing hospital applications outside of the Children’s network.

Once you have completed enrollment, you will be asked to reset your network password. This will be your main password for Children’s Network resources such as Webmail, Infor, etc.

  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and are Case Sensitive.
  • Passwords must contain alpha characters, numbers, and at least one (1) special character such as ~!@#$%^&* (No spaces allowed.)
  • Passwords may not include part of the user’s name or username.

  • The Blue River is our internal hub for communication and employee resources including access to your email, phone directory, news, employee discounts, and work requests.
  • Be sure to click on “HR & Benefits” at the top for employment information.
  • Please review the Compensation, Benefits, Time and Schedule, & Career menus for HR programs.

  • Webmail can be used from inside or outside the Children’s network by using this link in a web browser.
  • Please monitor this account for announcements. This is the official channel for information.

  • Blink is a communications platform designed to give employees direct access to company news and information, as well as help you stay connected with co-workers.
    • Use your Children’s email address & network username and password to login.

Complete all assigned courses and curriculums in Children’s University.

  • Use your network username and password to login
  • Once logged, in hover over Home on the toolbar in CU, then click on Learner Home, then search for Online Orientation, then open curriculum.
  • Classes will be assigned regarding self-service for Infor My Service Center and My Time and Schedule below.

Log into Lucidoc and acknowledge all assigned policies and procedures.

  • Once logged in, review and acknowledge all policies assigned to you under My Acknowledgements

Log into INFOR and complete assigned New Hire Tasks

Navigation: Blue River > Infor

  • To log in click on “Children’s of Alabama” and log in with your network ID and password.

Familiarize yourself with the Employee Self Service Menu and the actions you can perform in: My HR Profile, My Time & Schedule, My Benefits and My Pay.

  • In the Self Service Menu, go to My Programs and double click on HR Hire Employee Tasks on the far right
  • Review and acknowledge each task in the online onboarding plan.
  • In Self Service Menu, go to My HR Profile > My Profile & Contact Details > Personal Information.
  • Update phones, address and emergency contact information on your profile based on the steps in the guide. Please add new ones and inactivate old ones, but do not delete.
  • Your primary cell phone number will be used for Emergency Safety Notices from COA.
  • From the home page, you can visit My Pay > My Tax Withholding or My Payroll Forms to update your taxes at any time.

Log into INFOR and add your time sheet punches for your first day.

  • To log in click on “Children’s of Alabama” and log in with your network ID and password.

Infor My Time and Schedule (WFM) – Time and Schedule self-service

  • First complete the online training for staff in Children’s University for My Time & Schedule.
  • Go to My Time and Schedule > Review Clocks Form to submit any corrections to your time.
    • Normally you will use your departments clock in/out procedures, this form is for corrections only.
  • Use this form to add your time punches for your first day.
  • Go to My Time and Schedule > My Timesheet to review your time every week.
  • It is your responsibility to be sure your time is correct each week and to attest all exceptions!

In the first week:

  • Meet with your supervisor one-on-one to go over your role and expectations.

Navigation: Blue River > HR & Benefits > New Employee Orientation > Employee/Supervisor Checklist

  • Come prepared with any department questions you might have.

In the first month:

  • If you are benefits eligible, attend your benefits appointment, which might be completed by phone. Enroll in benefits by attending the scheduled one-on-one benefits appointment. This only applies to staff .5 FTE and above.
  • You must complete the enrollment and submit supporting dependent documentation within 31 days of your date of hire.
  • If you need to change the appointment time you received at orientation, or request a phone appointment, please call 205-638-6110.
  • Complete your appointment with Employee Health.
  • All employees are required to attend their Employee Health Appointment and submit required immunizations within the first week of hire.
  • For any questions regarding your appointment, please call 205-638-6106.
